The Foundation Trick That Has Changed The Way I Do Foundation

breakfast at vogue

We all have those days where we spend way too many hours on YouTube, maybe we even have more days like that than we’d like to admit. Recently, I was having one of those days and I stumbled across a Wayne Goss YouTube video about adding a facial oil to your foundation to create and amazing base. It sounded a little crazy, but since I’m having a moment with facial oils, I decided to give it a try and I’ve gotta say it is pretty great. I like to use the Clinique Superbalanced Makeup and Tarte Maracuja Oil and the two of them together work great. It creates almost like a tinted moisturizer, but with more coverage and a better finish. Also, because the facial oil has great benefits for your skin, it helps keep your skin moisturized and looking great all day. Now, if you have oily skin you might be thinking, no way. But, I’d like to inform you that, I too have oily skin and this method still works great. I’d say stick with a mattifying foundation and primer, and you’ll be fine. I’ve actually found that using a facial oil has reduced how oily my face gets during the day. If you guys try out this method, or use it too, let me know in the comments below!

Overhaulin’

Okay. So. It’s been awhile but there are viable reasons for this. My first reason is that I’m in the transferring process with school so this semester has been super important and my second reason is that I’ve kind of just lost my creative motivation the past few months. Once you stop blogging for more than a week, your mind kind of slowly goes out of it I guess. However, I’m trying to get back into it because I’ve suddenly got this push of inspiration and the sudden urge to start blogging again. With that being said, I’m planning a full overhaul of the blog. I’m planning on changing everything, except for the name. So with that being said, welcome to my new overhauled blog!

This Months Favorites

FavoritesI haven’t done a favorites in quite some time, but I’ve been using a lot of new products recently so I thought I would share. Some of these products I’ve had for awhile and recently just pulled them out again, others I got during Christmas so I’ve been using them for over a month, and can already tell that I’ll be using them for a long time.

Lavanilla Healthy Deodorant: I know its a little strange to have a deodorant in your favorites, BUT I’ve been trying to find a deodorant without aluminum, that still actually works, and I think this one takes the cake!

Philosophy Amazing Grace: If you have ever smelled this perfume before, then I think you will know why it is in my favorites. It’s the freshest and cleanest smelling perfume I have ever smelled.

Tarte Dreamer Cheek Stain: I have never really used a cheek stain or cream blush, just because they never seem to last long on me. However, this one is kind of a mix of both and it gives the most amazing glow to the skin and it actually lasts all day.

Tarte Maracuja Oil and Eye Cream: This stuff is great at moisturizing dry and dull skin. My skin is combination, so putting oil on can seem daunting, but it actually really helps keep the oil at bay and clear up and hyper-pigmentation. Also, the eye cream is really moisturizing and my under eye circles don’t seem as terrible as they used to.

MAC Cream Color Base in Hush: I was watching a Tanya Burr makeup tutorial recently and she was using this. It made me remember how beautiful of a highlight it was. I used to use it all the time (as you can probably tell). Then it just sort of fell behind in my makeup drawer. Now I’ve been using it to get a pretty soft glow on my cheeks and I love it.

Origins Clear Improvements Charcoal Mask: If you have blackheads/breakouts/oily skin, go get this stuff. I use it 1-2 times a week and it has made such a difference in the way my skins looks. Its amazing.

Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser: I’ve been seeing this stuff all over Youtube, and once I ran out of my Clinique under eye concealer, I thought I should try it out. It’s really worth the hype. It covers my dark circles really well and it doesn’t crease and its SUPER affordable.

Clinique Superbalanced Foundation: I’ve tried a few high end foundations recently and just haven’t been impressed. However, I think Clinique just always gets it right when it comes to foundation. This stuff makes my skin look smooth and even, but my freckles still poke through, which I love. It also lasts all day, or at least 8 hours, so you don’t have to touch up throughout the day. Convenient!

Pacifica Eyeshadow in Ethereal: I recently subscribed to Ipsy and this was in the last bag. I saw Ingrid Nilson use this and say it was ‘super pigmented’. So when I got it, I was expecting a really shimmery, long lasting eyeshadow. I was halfway disappointed. It isn’t very pigmented, but it is very long lasting. HOWEVER, it looks so pretty as a inner corner highlight. The fact that it isn’t very pigmented doesn’t make it so ‘in your face’. It also looks really pretty on the cheekbones and tip of your nose. So I ended up really not being that disappointed

I hope you guys enjoyed my favorites and let me know if you are loving any of the same products as me this month too!

Why Sienna Miller Is My New Girl Crush

breakfast at vogue

A few years back, when Sienna Miller was dating Jude Law, she was all over every fashion magazine. And back when I would religiously read things like Teen Vogue and Seventeen, I was well aware of who she was and loved her style. Now that I don’t religiously read those magazines, I stopped seeing her as often and kind of forgot about her. However, with American Sniper just hitting theatres, she’s been everywhere and I now remember why I loved her style so much. Its so effortless but put together, and she can rock the half-bun like nobody else can.

Let me know what you think of her style below in the comments!

Point Reyes

Hello again! Sorry for the lack of posting, I was camping last week in Joshua Tree, which was amazing by the way, and haven’t had too much time to get over on the blog. However, here are some photos from a little trip we took out to Point Reyes on New Years Eve. It was such a nice day in the Bay Area, so we had to go out for a little photo adventure. If you’re interested in what I’m wearing, here are the details. My flannel is from Madewell, the jeans are from Necessary Clothing, the hat is TopShop and the bag is ASOS. Let me know what you think in the comments below! Hope you all are having a great New Year so far!

So, here is how I do my nail routine during the winter months, and usually most of the time. Mixing Prints and Reminiscing About NYC

_MG_0122 _MG_0128 _MG_0138

Now that Christmas is coming, I am really starting to miss New York. I wish we were there when the tree was up and there was some snow on the ground. I can only imagine how magical NYC is during the holiday season. UGH. These are the last bit of photos from my trip and I was seriously into mixing prints when I was there. I loved the way the two aztec prints work since one was bigger than the other so it didn’t clash too much. Also, the coat and scarf were the two warmest things I had, so I didn’t have much of a choice 😉

The scarf and the jacket are both from Forever21 if you’re curious and the lipstick is Ruby Woo by MAC

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and let me know what you think in the comments below

7 Essentials For Traveling During The Holidays

It has been awhile since I posted last, I do apologize! The last few weeks of school really hit me hard! But anyways, here is my latest post inspired by the company RelayRides! RelayRides is a super cool company in the Bay Area that basically lets you rent your car to others, which is perfect for the holiday season! You can either get some extra cash, or you can rent a car for cheap! They also have an airport service that is super useful for the holiday season, which you can check out here! Since the holiday season is in full swing, that means there will be lots of traveling going on! Personally, I love traveling because it means I get to pull out all of my favorite traveling essentials. I’ve decided to share them on my blog for everyone to enjoy and maybe you’ll find some tips to use when traveling this holiday!

holiday travel

1. Warm Scarf: This one is from Madewell and I love the print. If you’re traveling in a plane, a warm scarf is definitely a must.

2. Eye Mask: I thought this one from Asos was so adorable. When trying to sleep on a plane, some eye masks really help!

3. Comfy Shoes: I dying to get these shoes, so they are kinda on my wishlist too. They are also from Madewell, and I just think they are cute and festive.

4. Lipbalm: My lips always tend to get chapped when on a plane so this is a must!

5. Nourishing Face Lotion: I love Clinique when it comes to skincare. This face lotion is thick and creamy and works so well for dry skin.

6. Face Mist: For some reason, I just think spritzing my face really wakes me up. So some facial spray really helps when you’re traveling. Or just put some toner into a spray bottle instead!

7. Hand Creme: This one from Burts Bees smells SO good. Also its small enough to just toss in your bag!

I hope you enjoyed my 7 Essentials When Traveling for the holidays. Let me know your must haves in the comments below!

here is the last set of photos from new york. i’m still so sad that i’m back. i do love california, don’t get me wrong, its amazing, there is just something about new york that i really enjoy. i’ve always been more attracted to cities though, so maybe that is why. this day was really nice though, we ended up exploring brooklyn a bit more and walking the brooklyn bridge, which was much easier that walking the golden gate. it’s so much shorter, much less windier,  but definitely twice the amount of people. we also took another trip to shake shack to get some shakes. again, still hoping they would open one on the west coast!

hope everyone is having a great week! stay tuned for a new post coming in the next few days!
